Gregor and his 2-year old sister Boots discover a hole in their New York apartment laundry room that has them falling into The Underland, a world discovered hundreds of years ago by the Earl of Sandwich. In the Underland, their are very few trees, no modern technology, and of course, gigantic Cockroaches, Bats, Rats, and many more huge creatures. As Gregor soon finds out, the Rats are at war with the humans of the Underland, and they might be behind his dad's disappearance. Also to Gregor's surprise, everyone down there believes that he is apart of a mysterious prophecy, and tell him he must become someone who he is not. Read Gregor the Overlander to find out if Gregor survives the Underland.In my opinion, Suzanne Collins does an amazing job of describing the setting. You can picture the Underland perfectly. It's like she is transporting you into the book, and you forget who you really are, because you are inside the book.
This song really captures the royal, secretive mood of the Underland.
Rats, cockroaches, bats warring with humans? Sounds similar to parts of New York City...ok maybe not the bats. What a great music choice! :)
