The Book Thief: Discussion 1

"It was 1936. The Olympics. Hitler's games."

This interested me because the Olympics are completely a world-wide event. It shocked me that somebody would have the audacity to say that it was just one person's.

  1. I found it terrible how they called it Hitler's games. It just shows how much power Hitler had. And I think Hitler had WAY to much power. I mean, you told me his last name isn't really Hitler, which means he changed his name to sound more powerful. I also think the power kind of got to his head.

  2. I agree. Imagine what a mess it was when Jesse Owens won a race against a German. It even stated that Hitler refused to shake his hand.

  3. Laura, Hitler's name was ORIGINALY Hitler, but then something wierd happened with his Grandpa, and was about to change to something else, but but didn't. The point, Hitlers name was Hitler, but was about to be changed to Shiclegruber, but didn't.
